  1. Dear Mrs. P, I'm sorry that I haven't got to write on the wiki in a while. I guess I forget a lot. Anyways I'm reading a new book it's called "Love, Lucas" and it's about a girl named Oakley and her brother died of cancer which is pretty sad but the book is really good but anyway her parents are fighting ever since Lucas passed. So the mother and Oakley go to California where Oakley's aunt lives. While their there Oakley's mom showed her this book full of messages from Lucas before he died. At that time he knew he was going to die so before he wen't he made her a whole entire book of messages to her which is very sweet. I have been loving this book and has been great and I think that the thesis is that you can recover from tragic times also I think it's HOPE.That stands for hold on,pain ends. I enjoy this book because it's inspiring in it's special way.- Abby

Dear Mrs. P, in the classroom I am reading A Brown Girl Dreaming By Jacquilen Woodson and its about her and her childhood and where she grew up and the story's of her life I mean that's what I am getting out of it. Jacquilen lives in South Carolina, and when the there were no rights for black people living there. Every page is a new chapter I am at a page about how to talk like they do in South Carolina. -Abby

Dear Mrs P I am sad to say I am not enjoying the recent read aloud. To me it is boring, we need a read aloud that gets us excited and on our feet. Perhaps we should have like done a vote or something for the read aloud but that is just my opinion. The next book we read as a class we should do a vote. Anyway I am enjoying Winn Dixxi it is exciting. I try to read it as much as I can but I don't think I haven't read it this week because I started a new book. I finished an MCBA. I also feel confident about my recent writing, to me it was really good and I would love some feed back and what I did good on and what I need to work on anything would be great. Your Pal Abby

Dear Mrs. P I have started a new book at home called A Wrinkle In Time and its about a girl named meg, she lives with a set of boy twins and a little brother that I forgot the name of sorry. Meg had lost her father and she set off to find her father with her friend that I also forget the name sorry again and the little brother not the twins. Meg and her little brother have a special bond, I read this book before bed and in the morning. This book is challenging but it feels like the book for me. Your favorite Abby

Dear Room 7,

I’m very excited to hear all your thoughts about what you’re reading on your individual wiki pages. I’ve really enjoyed all your enthusiasm about Silverwing. Even though this is my twelfth time reading it, I still get really excited about sharing it every year. *The genre of this book is definitely fantasy since I don’t believe that bats and owls have wars or detailed adventures together. I also consider this to be a genre of my own invention- called Animal Adventure. I love the character Shade; he’s one of my all-time favorites. *If I could talk to Shade, I would ask him if he thinks it was worth it to break the law and see the sun, especially after what happens to his colony as a result.

Your friend in reading,

Mrs. Palmieri J

Dear Team 7,

Good Job getting started doing wiki and RAZ.

Remember on your wiki-

  1. Please write like its a letter- Date, Greeting, Body, Closing, Signature

  2. Make sure to write about one book only (unless you are writing multiple paragraphs

  3. YOU MUST use sentence leads from the pink sheet in your response. These will help me see your thinking about what you are reading.

Use your time wisely during Reading block and you'll be able to get these done at school!

Thanks,

Mrs. P

Hi Abby,

Happy New Year!

I have not read Kizzy Ann Stamps but I love seeing the connection you already made to the story. Making connections like yours help you to better understand how Kizzy the character feels. The little bit you told me reminds me of the real little girl whose painting hangs in our cafe. Her name is Ruby Bridges and she was the first black girl in her school.

Have you been enjoying our read aloud of Sophia's War? *I've noticed that the author Avi gave us a lot of background information in Part 1 of the book so that we would better understand this big adventure that Sophia is going to undertake in Part 2. Can't believe we are more then halfway done with it! Sophia has entered dangerous territory as she is now working at the Kennedy House, which is the headquarters for the British. It's kind of crazy that she is actually cleaning Major Andre's office and reading his secret papers! Who do you think the mysterious Mr. Moore is and what does it have to do with West Point?

Talk to you soon,
Mrs. P

Dear Coach, I recently started Kizzy Ann Stamps. I have not gotten so far . If you have not read this book ill fill you in. Kizzy is starting a new school. But it is a white public school she is very worried she is worried that the white students wont like her. She is worried that the white students will stare at her scar thta is to the corner of her right eye to the corner of her smile. If i could talk to kizzy i would saythat lots of people stare at my birth mark and its ok to be diffrent. - Abby.

Dear Room 7 student,

I am glad that I am reading Sophia's War__ out loud to you. I enjoyed reading it this summer and think it is making a great read aloud, It is a challenging book, with many old fashioned and difficult words so I think this may have been challenging for many of you to read on your own.

*The author Avi got me really interested when he ended Part One of the book with Sophia ready to seek revenge for the death of her brother William. I have been giving you some hints about what might happen. I will tell you that working at the print shop is key to what Sophia will do next and how she will get even with John Andre, whom she blames for not helping her brother.**If I could talk to Sophia, I would ask her if she is afraid to go after Andre.

What do think will happen next?

Talk to you soon,
Mrs. P:)

Dear Room 7 member-

You and write will write back and forth to each other about what we have been reading.
I will ask you questions that you can answer, and you can ask me questions too.

Make sure to always write about ONE book and to use SENTENCE LEADS to help you with
your thinking.

Your friend,
Mrs. P
